1st Clyde Yacht Training, can take you on Introductory RYA Start Yachting, Competent Crew, Intermediate RYA Day Skipper or Advanced Coastal Skipper Practical or any of the Theory yacht training courses from Largs in Scotland which is a rewarding sail training experience. In addition we offer skippered charter, bareboat charter and own boat training; we use the sheltered waters of the Firth of Clyde on Scotlands West Coast. We offer personal tuition, when you want (generally incorporating weekends), keeping classes small provides high quality feedback from all our past clients. Do you need an International Certificate of Competance (ICC) for a trip abroad and/or if you intend to Skipper on European Inland Waterways then you must have a CEVNI endorsement too. 1st Clyde Yacht Training provides for all Sail Training needs using a perfect environment combined with excellent recreational facilities from Largs Yacht Haven, North Ayrshire. We are an RYA Recognised Training Centre and we offer the complete range of sail training courses designed to meet all your sailing needs, Practical or Theory inc Interactive On Line Learning, from introductory to advanced including training for the Yachtmaster Coastal and Offshore examinations or assessment for ICC and CEVNI too. Don't forget your one day Marine Short Range (Very High Frequency) VHF Radio Operator's Course. In addition the Professional Practices and Responsibilities Course for those seeking Commercial Endorsement from April. We specialise in arranging Sail Training Courses flexibly, on demand to suit your party’s requirements and to maximise your time afloat whilst minimising demands on your precious holiday time using weekends wherever possible for our Practical & Theory Sail Training. We offer RYA Theory Courses throughout the Winter and are available to commence Practical Sail Training Courses starting from early in March which offers best value too. Largs Yacht Haven allows sheltered access from Scotlands finest Marina onto the Firth of Clyde. Our Yacht Training courses give the right balance of teaching and coaching with ability. All students get maximum benefit, whilst having an enjoyable Sail Training Course, visiting a variety of moorings, berths and anchorages, changed by the day depending on current conditions.
Flexable Courses over Weekends (Top) As a bonus Introductory and Intermediate courses can be run over 5 days either during one weekend (Thursday evening – Tue afternoon) or split using two or three weekends to cover your chosen sailing course. A popular formula favoured in Scotland is the two & three day weekend courses which can meet on a Friday and then again on the following Thursday night or vice versa. RYA accredited Yacht Training Practical or Theory Courses are scheduled to suit your availability and adapted for a range of abilities including RYA Day Skipper with RYA Competent Crew & RYA Start Yachting Practical Training too. Specification (Top) We guarantee great Yacht Training Courses on board typically a fully equipped 40 foot, 8 berth, 3 cabin yacht. We have all the fitted luxuries like warm air heating you expect, plus extra ones like a Rigid Inflateable Boat and Outboard Engine - (No inflating dinghies and no need to paddle ashore) from secluded anchorages using a 1,000W anchor windlass & internal generated 240 V a.c. power too provided in all cabins from the Invertor supplied dedicated 400A/hr service bank, on board Digital TV/DVD and Cat B AIS interfacing with a Raymarine Colour Chartplotter running Navionics Platinum Charts at the chart table along with a second Raymarine Chartplotter at the helm mentioning a few. Course Size (Top) Limited to five students on the introductory and intermediate Practical Sail Training Courses and reduced further to four for advanced ones like the Yachtmaster refresher in preparation for your examination at Coastal or Offshore levels. We can offer personal theory tuition if you come with a friend/group. On all theory courses we can offer you overnight accomodation on board our Sail Training Yacht berthed at Largs Yacht Haven (subject to availability). The RYA theory courses represent great value and are limited to just two or three students. Alternatively we offer some RYA Theory Courses through RYA Interactive On Line learning courses which include: VHF Short Range Certificate DSC Pre-Course assessment, CEVNI European Inland Waterways Certificate, Essential Navigation and Safety Course and from April the Professional Practices & Responsibilities Course. All Inclusive (Top) All our Practical courses are fully inclusive of certificates, fuel, gas and berthage at Largs Yacht Haven whilst offering best value too. Theory Courses provides for free accomodation too (subject to availability) and provides access to all the Yacht Haven shore facilities before and after our Theory training courses. Variety (Top) One or half day taster cruises for your friends and family are availabile too, with an instructor, to show you what yachting its all about!. Family/Group (Top) Want to learn with the family/group - no problem. Children over thirteen are welcome if they are with a parent or guardian. If you wish we can tailor an introductory with an intermediate course to suit you, so everyone has an enjoyable and exclusive experience, by running activities just for your family/group. That means the yacht is exclusively yours, for the course duration, with an accompanying instructor. It is an RYA condition that children under 16, may only be eligable for the 2 Day Start Yachting or 5 Day Competent Crew Course Completion Certificate. Own Boat (Top) Do you have your own boat and/or want training for your own group please call - we can accommodate!. Charter & Discounts (Top) If you have the necessary qualifications and you would like to charter then please call. Discounts are available to previous Charterers and even better for Skippers and Yachtmasters trained by us and familiar with the yacht. Mileage & Experience Builder (Top) You may want to refresh your current knowledge or build up your mileage and experience before taking the next level RYA Certificate. You can come along as a mileage builder to help gain confidence, knowledge and experience. All that is required is to register your enquiry on the 'Contact Us' form and select 'Mileage/Experience Builder' option or alternatively the course which most interests you. Potential Destinations (Top) There are really interesting places to see on all our Training Courses with superb panoramic views & wildlife (Kyles of Bute) not forgetting the historic towns (Troon, Rothsay, Tarbert, Dunoon, Helensborough, Cambeltown, Brodick, Lamlash & Inverary). Experience (Top) If your looking to use any of your RYA qualifications for commercial purposes then you will need to take the new Professional Practices & Responsibilities Course to obtain a commercial endorsement.
